Welcome to Jonesburg Elementary

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Jonesburg Elementary School, home of the Wildcats! We pride ourselves on being a close school community that fosters good character and academic excellence. As a member of the Jonesburg Elementary family, not only will your student learn how to read, write, and solve mathematical problems, they will also learn how to think critically. Our teachers are dedicated to developing future leaders that can think independently with competence and confidence that will allow them to achieve goals beyond their wildest dreams

I am thrilled to be embarking on this new path in my career as Principal of Jonesburg Elementary.  I have heard amazing things about the faculty, parents and community, but most importantly, the students!  I am new to the position of principal, but I am very familiar with the Montgomery County R-II District.  I was born and raised in Montgomery County, am a graduate of MCHS, I currently reside in Montgomery County, and I am entering my twelfth year as a faculty member in our district.  I take great pride in being a Wildcat!  I love education and am excited to learn and grow alongside our students and staff at Jonesburg Elementary.  I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Business & Public Administration with an emphasis in Finance and a minor in Agricultural Economics.  After working a few years in the business world, I discovered my true calling, helping students learn and achieve their goals.  It is truly a gift to be able to spend my career helping mold the future.  I went back to school to become a teacher and have since earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching and Masters of Arts in School Administration, both from Lindenwood University.  It is an honor to get to serve the students, staff and community connected to Jonesburg Elementary.  I look forward to getting to know each student and continuing to support their educational journey.

Throughout the year we will continue to use the Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (P.B.I.S.) program we will set a universal expectation and language that will create a learning environment for your student to grow both personally and academically.  At Jonesburg Elementary we focus on practicing the 5 Be’s: Be Kind, Be Cooperative, Be Responsible, Be Safe, & Be Respectful.

This year we will be embracing the FISH Philosophy at Jonesburg Elementary.  Throughout the year you may hear your students talking about FISH and see many fish themes.  I’m really hoping the philosophy will “catch” on because following these principles will help us “dive” into learning at Jonesburg Elementary!  The four guiding principles for FISH philosophy are Be There – be emotionally present each day, Play – is the spirit that drives a curious mind, Make Their Day – it’s about contributing to someone else’s day, and my favorite, Choose Your Attitude – taking responsibility for how you respond to what life throws at you.

The role of you, the parent, is the most important piece of our puzzle. It is critical that the relationship between school and home is strong and productive. Consistent and positive communication is vital in helping your student reach and exceed their highest potential. Our Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) would be an excellent way to help foster that relationship and it would provide you with many opportunities to have a greater influence on your student’s education. It doesn’t matter if you can help a lot or a little because any amount of time will help. If you are interested in this organization please do not hesitate to call the office and we will share your interest with our PTO officers.

The 2017-2018 school year will bring the opportunity for growth and learning. I am excited to be part of the Jonesburg Elementary school community and eager to begin our education journey. Jonesburg Elementary is an outstanding school with a close supportive staff and community. Together our focus will be on student learning, critical thinking, and character education to help build today for a successful tomorrow.

Yours in Education,
